Just wondered how teams feel about the new 12 second rule now that they've played with it? It seems to have slowed games down at our tournament. Was this rule implemented on a trial-basis before IWRF voted it in?
I guess we'll get used to it, but the old clock in my head is hard to re-program after 10 years w/ the 15-second rule.

A Mistake for sure......

Hey James, I think it was a big mistake for the IWRF to change the 15 sec. count to 12 sec.. I see nothing but whistle blowing and the refs pointing the opposite direction. Turn over after turn over and the fans are going to be wondering why in the hell did that player just through the ball to the other end of the court and no one was there to catch it.........

I'm very happy they adopted the 40 clock but I don't believe they were thinking clearly enough to also chang the 15 sec. to 12 sec. all at the same time. I haven't heard of any trials on it and if they did then they should have done it here in the states where the game is much faster. I see this season being filled with some ugly rugby. I may be wrong, if there is anyone who has played with this new rule that cares to share their thaught's then please do.....

That's my 2 cents....

We held our first tournament

We held our first tournament a couple of weeks ago and we went with the 12 second clock.  We didn't have much trouble with it. In fact it sped the game up even more. Of course we had mostly young teams, and B Squads from Teams like the McGee Eagles, so I don't know how the rule plays out with higher end teams on the court. But I also think it causes us to pull out some new stratagies that make the game even more interesting.

Of course I'm nobody special. But overall it did not seam to upset the tempo of the game or cause excesive turnovers.
