The excitement is building for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing and we are ready to provide coverage and access to competition results. As you may know, a lot of discussion has taken place the past few weeks about broadcast and webcast coverage of the Games. The good news is, everything you need to follow our athletes and the Paralympic Games is on Lakeshore Foundation’s website. You will find athlete bios, a news section and links to several websites with more information, as well as live competition and video highlights. Just log on to our homepage at http://www.lakeshore.org and simply click on the Paralympic Games tab.
The big news yesterday was that Universal Sports will be carrying some competition live and video highlights on its website. Then on October 8th, competition will be broadcast on Universal HD, a channel available on Charter Cable, Brighthouse and DirectTV. The channel is part of the HD package, so you will have to purchase the package to receive the channel. Beginning October 8th, and lasting for at least 7 days, Universal will be broadcasting 3 hours of coverage. Also, on October 18th, a special presentation on the Games will be broadcast on NBC.
Yesterday's announcement by Universal Sports was also a huge step for the Paralympic movement that will bring great exposure to these extraordinary athletes. Over the next several days we will be publicizing our website to the community and making a big push for media coverage of the Paralympic Games. We are producing some cards to promote our website that will be available for distribution soon and we’ll make those cards available for anyone who can help us get the word out.
