Thanks to the great crew at xAble: Elio Navarro, Jessi Navarro, Rob Rowen, Gunnison. You guys were superb. Rob has become somewhat of an expert on the game, thanks to the color commentators from around the league helping out. And the rest of the crew works tirelessly with the production, and then battling in cyberland. I’m told the traffic on the games almost overloaded their system. It was their biggest traffic ever.
Since xAble is filming, some are saying bring in instant reply after the Texas/Lakeshore game. Personally, I’m surprised there hasn’t been more discussion on Rugby Talk. Maybe it’s a matter of letting it all sink in.
Regardless of that, our new partners have performed exceedingly well, and we urge you to find the games of your choice and buy the DVD. It will help xAble and the USQRA to continue providing coverage of our great sport. Check out all of xable.com as well because these guys are painting a broad stroke across the disability community, and we are proud to be a part of that.
A hint: If your download is a little slow or herky-jerky, put the player on pause and let it load up a bit. Then watch. And buy the DVD!

Instant Replay
I'll go ahead and start the discussion. Has anyone else noticed that it appears, in the fourth quarter of the Texas-Lakeshore game, on the very last play, the horn appears to go off before Shimikawa(sp.?) crosses the goal line? Not trying to create controversy here, just stating my observation.

I know that Spokes Ableman looked at that video and he has some thoughts coming out on it soon.

Can you see it?
I can just see a proposal for next season "all post season games will be videoed and each team will have 1 challenge per game"

You can look at any game and
You can look at any game and find a dozen calls or non-calls that could potentially decide the outcome. There is a margin for error that we have to accept in our sport...overall, the refs do a fantastic job, but we will live or die by their decisions.
As a side note, watch the Schimi play against Lakeshore at the end of the 4th again...keep your eyes on the right of the screen and you will notice Norm calling a time-out before the goal and before the horn...the ref saw him but did not award it...
Too much controversey for me...

A Judgement Call...
Chuck, you are correct and the buzzer did go off...and the refs determined it was a goal. Gabe stated it well, there are some calls or non-calls that could be a determining factor to some games. Is everyone satisfied that the refs got together, to make the determination of it being a goal...some are and some might not be. But the refs are human, and it was a judgement call...just like rewarding the goal and not rewarding the time-out. I do not know if instant replay is the answer, because if you see it live or on a video...it is still going to be a judgement call.

From an Unbiased Source
I was videotaping on the opposite end of where Shimi scored. When I got home I went back and watched the game and saw that between the Lakeshore score and the last Texas possession, the clock was stopped about 1.6 seconds late. So it actually kindof evened out in the end. Not that it matters, the game's over anyway.
