Whats everyone's opinion on low pointer hand rims? I've burned through 2 sets of the blue neoprene ones from eagles and am getting ready to purchase at least 2 more sets for the upcoming season. Anybody try out the big stix from push blax yet?

 I've tried all the

I've tried all the low-point pushrims and have had the best luck with the Melrose rims. They seem to hold up the best. The Pushblax ones work good too until you lose as chunk of the rubber. But that's going to happen to all of them eventually. Hazards of the game!

Low point rugby equip review

Ok so here's my opinion after running pushblacks and eagle blue rims and swapping them out pretty evenly over the past few months.

Pushblacks: These rims are quality designed, easy to mount and are the product of great innovator and quad himself, Matt Peters....he actually washed a set for me at sectionals in the filthy U of A locker room, that's service! The fresh pushblacks require a little washing to create sticky feel when they're brand new, but after a bit of contact they get scuffed and remain grippy. They last way longer and don't get as chewed up as the blues. They also take hits better. I have a back hand push and although my knuckles are calloused and I wear two sets of gloves, the push blacks are hard on my knuckles. They don't tear them open but the contact on the hard black rubber kills them.

Eagle Blue Rims: Since these came out, you simply don't see red rubber in the US. These rims are grippy as hell and reel in the high pointers. Every set I've had is a pain in the ass to mount though, the tabs never match up and you spend a lot of time jacking with them. They aren't very uniformly coated and can make a wheel feel untrue. Although I run through them way too quick due to broken tabs, bends in the rim from hits and general quick wear....they are great rims! They are kind of spongy which is great for my push, I don't feel like I have to work as hard on start ups or maintaining speed with these rims. No gripe from my knuckles at all.

Red Rubber: I've only had one set on my first chair. I mainly remember the fact that the rubber balls up and comes off easily. Also, seeing some of the rims of other players, the rubber peels off in huge pieces. They take sheets of the rubber and glue them to the rims. In my opinion this kind of rubber is better for gloves.

I hope this helps...especially if you're new to the sport. Black=quality, hard, good life. Blue=great grip, spendy due to life/durability. Red=Original.

I'm going to stir the pot and see if we can get a confirm on a rumor I heard. I hear that Vesco actually came up with the blue rim formula and the guy who they told how to make them...took the idea and sold it to Eagle. Anyone wanna fess up, explain or deny?

As far as low point chairs...I've always pushed a Vesco, no complaints. If any low pointer orders a chair without 5/8 in axles you are making a HUGE mistake. I ran through countless 1/2 in axles before my new chair. The cost of getting new wheels will pay for itself. Bent 1/2 axles at 20-40 bucks a pop adds up quick. Haven't bent a 5/8 in over 6 months.
