In less than 24 hours we will see the best rugby on the west coast. The United States Quad Rugby Association’s Pacific Sectional Tournament is set to tip off on Friday, March 12, 2010. This year’s tournament finds us in the home of the Portland Pounders, Portland, OR and will be played on the hard wood courts of Benson High School. Games are set to begin at 5:30pm with the first round of games, where we’ll see the Seattle Slam face off against the Northridge Kings on court 1, and the hometown Portland Pounders battle it out against da Bears of Chicago on Court 2. The second round of games are set to begin at 7:00pm featuring the Las Vegas Sin City Skulls matched up against the Northridge Knights on court 1, and on court 2 we’ll see Sharp Edge from San Diego face off against the Sierra Storm form Reno, NV. Games are scheduled to continue on Saturday, March 13th beginning at 11am and Sunday, March 14th at 9am.
This tournament is sure to provide an action packed weekend of rugby with the sound of crash and slam echoing through the halls of Benson High School.
After the bent and broken metal is off the floor and dust settles, the top four teams will advance to the DI/ DII National Championships in Birmingham, AL next month.
To follow the games, please follow the USQRA on twitter at USQRA, or stay tuned right here, as I’ll have updates each day.
Here’s to a great tournament and good luck to all the teams.

Thanks, Bob. We can certainly use more of this type of enthusiasm and blogging about our tournaments.
Thanks for the scores too!
