16.)   A resolution, proposing a one-time $100 per team assessment for the purchase of shot clocks.

Submitted by: Tom Hamill, USQRA Commissioner

The language of the proposal:

There will be a one-time $100 per team dues assessment for the 2008-2009 season. This assessment will be applied to the purchase of portable shot clocks by the USQRA. Shot clocks will be placed with Board members throughout the USA to take or ship to tournaments as requested on a first asked, first served basis. Tournament hosts are responsible for shipping costs, timely shipping and any damage to the clocks.

State the reason the proposal should be passed:

Two years into the score clock era we are finding that most of the gyms we play in have no shot clocks or they are attached to backboards. This will spread the cost of having clocks for all teams around the league.

No brainer!

Unless someone wants to just donate the money, this is the only fair way to get this funded.

How much do shotclocks cost?

Hi, this makes a bit of sense, I'm just wondering though, how much do shot clocks cost? I know scoreboards are rediculously expensive but I'm not aware as to the going rate of shot clocks.

Our high school once got scoreboards that were given to us by Coca-Cola in exchange for switching our drink machines to only sell their products. So the scoreboards (which were really nice) had a big Coke logo on them. Perhaps we could get a company to purchase them for us to simply have their company logo plastered all over the thing at tournaments all across the country where they are used?

Just an idea that I'm sure has probably already been considered but I wanted to toss it out there anyway.
